Asphalt Paving FAQs

What’s the difference between resurfacing and repaving?

Pavement resurfacing adds a new layer over the existing pavement. Repaving involves removing and rebuilding the entire asphalt structure.

With regular asphalt maintenance, paving lasts 15 to 20 years or more, depending on traffic and climate.

Water intrusion, UV rays, vehicle stress, and oil/chemical spills are the primary causes.

Surface wear with an intact base may only need resurfacing. Deep cracks, drainage issues, or base failure usually require repaving.

Late spring through early fall, when daytime temps stay above 50°F, is ideal for asphalt application and curing.
